Channel 2 News @channel2news started as a hobby during the beginning of COVID-19 to develop and understand my own visual arts aesthetic and do research. From doing this I have discovered my love of curation, research and archiving, using libraries, internet archives and websites such as tumblr and flickr to source images, videos and writings. COVID-19 is the first time I saw so many genuinely interesting digital exhibitions pop up all over the place.
Another reason I became more interested in Channel 2 News is our general relationship to social media and the internet vs. what it was like as a child in the birth of the home computer. I want my corner of the internet to be slower and more meaningful in the age of fast paced content. I remember looking through wikipedia rabbit holes and spending time to see what I could discover, or just focusing on making a collage on KidPix, doing one thing at a time. I want us to engage with the internet differently than what is popular lately, it is an incredible and intelligent tool.
